On Saturday, the man accused of being the Potomac River Rapist was found dead inside his jail cell in Washington D.C. Giles Warrick, the accused Potomac River Rapist, was found hanging from a sheet in the cell during a routine check just before 8 p.m. Saturday night, before being pronounced dead.
It is suspected that Warrick murdered one woman and sexually assaulted eight others in the Washington D.C. and Montgomery County Md. areas during the 1991-1998 time frame. The one woman he killed was 29-year-old Christine Mirzayan during the summer of 1998. Though his age range for the sexual assaults ranged from 18 to 58.
Warrick was arrested in South Carolina in November 2019, after an investigation forensically linked him to the attacks. He has been in jail waiting for his trial ever since being arrested, and his trial was scheduled for November 29.
Other details surrounding his death have not been released.
