Idaho Police Expand Crime Scene – University of Idaho Student Murders

UPDATE: Monday, police have taped off a wide area behind the home where four college students were stabbed to death last Sunday. According to Fox News, the entrance to the back of the house is on the second level and that opens up to a parking lot and forested area, which is what has been tapped off. Experts have said that if the killer wanted to get rid of the knife used in the murders that area would be a great place to do it.

Police are still asking the public to remain vigilant and alert as they are still looking for the suspect(s).

When we first reported on the four students who had been murdered there were not many details available, however now, almost a week later there are some details while the killer is still unknown and on the loose. Early Sunday morning, around three or four a.m., four University of Idaho students 20-year-old Ethan Capin, 20-year-old Xana Kernodle, 21-year-old Madison Mogen, and 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves were killed inside a home on Kings Road in Moscow, Idaho. Hours later, around noon, 911 was called to report the incident in which police responded to an unconscious person.

Though now it has come out that two additional roommates were at the home while the four students were murdered. It seems like these additional roommates have been ruled out as suspects as police are still looking for suspects. Though it still is interesting that they were in the home and seemingly did not know that anything was occurring.

Police have also reported that at this time the autopsy reports are in. The deaths were officially ruled as stabbings, and have mentioned that they were attacked with an “edged weapon” potentially a knife. It has also been reported that police have inquired with the local store Moscow Building Supply multiple times regarding if they sold any Ka-Bar brand knives, however, the store has mentioned they do not carry those.

The Latah County Prosecutor, Bill Thompson, has told NBC that there may be more than one suspect. Though at this time there isn’t any new information on leads or suspects, that they can share with the public. On Fox News’ America Reports segment, forensic pathologist and Fox News contributor Dr. Michael Baden has thrown out the possibility that if there was only one perpetrator potentially they were waiting in the home for a good opportunity to strike. As it would be near impossible to kill four 20-somethings by yourself without them trying to fight or flee. Leaving many questions surrounding the incident unanswered.

While this story is still developing it seems at this time the local police and authorities on the case are keeping details close to the vest in hopes of finding any leads on the case. They have however warned people in the Moscow area and especially students and those around the University of Idaho to remain vigilant as the suspect or suspects are still on the loose.
