On Thursday morning, a woman was choked and sexually assaulted while jogging in New York City’s West Village. At around 5:30 a.m. the 43-year-old woman was running along a path in the area when a stranger approached her from behind. The stranger began choking her to a particle loss of consciousness before throwing her to the pavement and raping her. The victim was able to get the attention of another jogger who was then able to call the police. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.
The passerby said she saw the woman who looked hurt and claimed she looked like she needed help.
The police have since reported they had someone in custody for the assault, but they haven’t made an arrest yet. They have said that the suspect in custody is an alleged “serial rapist” who is 29 years old and is homeless.
This incident comes only a few months after a similar incident occurred in the area with a 39-year-old victim.
