Monday 63-year-old Charles “Chuck” Carter was charged with second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of a 15-year-old who had gone missing last week. Olivia Daryl Taylor was reported missing by her parents last Wednesday at about 7 p.m. Later that Wednesday Carter was first arrested on a count of aggravated statutory rape. Then on Thursday, only one day after Taylor was reported missing, her body was found on Tennessee Highway 70, east of Cookeville.
According to a police release, Carter has allegedly admitted to investigators that he had “delivered and provided illegal narcotics to Taylor which caused her death.” This has led investigators on the case in the direction of believing Taylor died from a fentanyl overdose however they are waiting for official toxicology reports to determine that.
