37-year-old Jonathan Davis was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon Tuesday after a strange incident occurred on a Florida Natural Scenic Trail in Crestview Florida. Davis, a homeless Florida man, befriended a man and his wife who were camping in the area from Ohio, sometime on Tuesday. After the Ohio couple set up their camp, the men got to be friendly. At some point later Tuesday, Davis stabbed the man in his abdomen before fleeing the area.
The man’s wife left the area to get cell phone service and called 911 at which point paramedics arrived and rushed the man to the hospital. The man is expected to survive. While at the hospital police approached the wife and they were able to get details on the homeless man, later identified as Davis, before going out to look for him.
Davis was found walking on State Road 85 with bloody clothes. At this point, police took Davis into custody on an outstanding warrant for burglary and other charges. During a search of Davis, police were able to find the knife he used in the stabbing.
