44-year-old David Bonola pled guilty Wednesday to manslaughter for the brutal murder of Forest Park New York City mother Orsolya Gaal. Earlier this year, Bonola murdered and dismembered Gaal in her home while her 13-year-old son was asleep upstairs. Back in May Bonola was indicted with 13-counts, including charges of murder, burglary, and the concealment of a human corpse. Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael Aloise said he would sentence Bonola to 25 years in prison with 5 years of post-release supervision, in a sentencing trial set for November 16.
According to court documents, Bonola was an illegal immigrant that was working as a handyman, and had been doing work at Gaal’s home. It was also reported that the two had had a two-year affair, which Gaal had recently broken up. Bonola also claimed to police that Gaal had given him HIV.
In the early morning hours of April 16th at 12:30 a.m. Bonola arrived at Gaal’s home as Gaal was coming home from a night out.
According to Fox News:
“Bonola and the victim were arguing when the defendant slashed Gaal’s throat and stabbed her more than 50 times. Hours later, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Bonola is captured on a nearby home’s security video surveillance footage wheeling a hockey duffel bag belonging to one of the victim’s sons.”
The bag containing Gaal’s dismembered remains was found at 8 a.m. near her home and police were then able to follow a blood trail back to Gaal’s home. It was also reported that at the time of the murder Gaal’s husband and 17-year-old son were out of town on college visits.
