Thursday a North Carolina man was sentenced to over 100 years in prison on multiple counts of sex crimes in New Hanover North Carolina. On Thursday, 34-year-old Alfredo Duran-Rivas was found guilty of 18 counts of various sex crimes. According to WECT 6 News, these crimes include “one count of statutory sex offense of a child, four counts of taking liberties with children, five counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.” He was then sentenced to a minimum of 118 years in prison.
During the initial investigation into Duran-Rivas, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office had determined he had sexually abused a minor on multiple occasions. All of which occurred back in 2017 and 2018. Though police were able to gain evidence for the allegations through recordings Duran-Rivas had saved on his cellphone.
