Police in Raleigh North Carolina responded to an active shooter incident on Thursday. The situation left 5 dead and two injured, including an off duty police officer and a K-9 officer. Just after 5 p.m. EST Thursday, the Raleigh Police Department responded to the scene near the Neuse River Greenway. At around 6 p.m. the Police Department tweeted to advise residents to stay in their homes.
As the story was developing last night, we now know that a juvenile suspect was taken into custody at around 8 p.m., though he was not identified due to his age. Then at around 11 p.m. during a press conference, authorities said that one victim was released from the hospital while another was still in the hospital in critical condition.
Five members of the Raleigh community were killed during the shooting, including an off-duty police officer. The Raleigh Police Department is heartbroken from the entirety of the event and have said the fallen officer was like a sibling to those in the department.
It is still unclear as to what exactly happened with this incident, as there have yet to be many details released, regarding the shooting.
