John Mackey, Whole Foods CEO, Stands Against Socialism

John Mackey, the CEO of Whole Foods, who for a long time has been hailed as a hero of progressivism has come out as a direct opponent to Socialism. He made the remarks while in an interview with American Enterprise. This news comes as a total shock as many corporate leaders in America are bowing the knee to socialism. More from Newsweek:

Whole Foods founder and CEO John Mackey said on Friday that capitalism is humanity’s greatest invention and doesn’t deserve the criticism it receives. He also went on the attack against socialism.

Mackey was speaking to the market-oriented American Enterprise Institute about his new book Conscious Leadership: Elevating Humanity Through Business. In a video shared by Just the News, the CEO said socialism had consistently failed.

He said capitalism will “be attacked for its motivations because its motivations are seen as somehow impure. Yes, of course, business has to make money. If a business doesn’t make money, it will fail, but that doesn’t mean that its purpose is to make money.”

Mackey raised many good points in the interview and there is sure to be a response from advocates of socialism in the near future. The interview is impressive and covers much more than his condemning of socialism. The whole interview can be viewed here.
