What Is Critical Race Theory? And Why Is Trump Banning It?

President Trump has banned the use of Critical Race Theory in training for Government agencies and many are up in arms over the administration’s decision. The Office of Management and Budget sent out a letter on September 4th to agencies asking them to stop using this in their training for employees. Average Americans are left asking questions as to what this Critical Race Theory is and why it is being used in training for federal. Critical Race Theory is a modern approach to talking about racial politics in academia, the theory uses the “racism is power plus prejudice” idea of racism, created the idea of “White Privilege” and concludes that the United States is fundamentally racist. More from NPR:

The memo, issued by OMB Director Russell Vought, reads in part:

“All agencies are directed to begin to identify all contracts or other agency spending related to any training on ‘critical race theory,’ ‘white privilege,’ or any other training or propaganda effort that teaches or suggests either (1) that the United States is an inherently racist or evil country or (2) that any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil.”

The memo said agencies “should begin to identify all available avenues within the law to cancel any such contracts and/or to divert Federal dollars away from these un-American propaganda training sessions.”

Critical Race Theory is mainstream in many areas, media, left-wing politics, and workplaces around the country. The theory is largely propped up by left-wing academics and its effects are very real and visible to many who are in the know when it comes to this kind of thing.
