NASA Chief Claims Humans Will Be On Mars By 2035

NASA chief Jim Bridenstine is now claiming that the space agency will be able to land Americans on Mars by 2035. As Fox News reports:

“If we are accelerating the moon landing, we are accelerating the Mars landing,” Bridenstine, NASA’s Administrator, said during a panel discussion at the International Astronautical Congress, according to Space.com.

“I suggest we can do it by 2035,” he added.

In April, Bridenstine said before lawmakers that NASA astronauts could be on the red planet by 2033, pushing up the timeframe, Fox 2 previously reported.

“We can move up the Mars landing by moving up the moon landing (to 2024),” Bridenstine told the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. “We need to learn how to live and work in another world. The moon is the best place to prove those capabilities and technologies. The sooner we can achieve that objective, the sooner we can move on to Mars.”

Vice President Mike Pence also spoke at the IAC, discussing the Trump administration’s plan to return an American to the Moon by 2024.
