Roger Stone has been arrested by Mueller’s FBI team, meaning that the probe is advancing to a conclusion. The Daily Caller reports:
Roger Stone, a longtime confidant of President Donald Trump, was indicted Friday morning on charges in the special counsel’s investigation.
Prosecutors charged Stone, 66, with seven counts, including five for making false statements to Congress, one for witness tampering, and one for obstruction of a government proceeding.
Notably, Stone is not accused of taking part in collusion with the Russian government or of taking part in the theft of emails stolen from Democrats. He will appear in federal court Friday morning for his first hearing.
The charges center on Stone’s discussions with associates and Trump campaign officials about WikiLeaks, the group founded by Julian Assange that released Democrats’ emails during the 2016 presidential campaign.
These charges all look like “process” crimes, so unless there is some cooperation on Stone’s part, this could be the end of the probe.
