New Republican Congressman Reaches Out to Former Foe

Soon to be Congressman Dan Crenshaw reached out to the man who formerly ridiculed him for his missing eye that he lost in combat overseas. After apologizing, Davidson and Crenshaw became friends. Now, Davidson posted suicidal thoughts on social media and Crenshaw came to help. The Daily Caller reports:

Congressman-elect Dan Crenshaw reached out to “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson after Davidson posted a note Saturday on social media that seemed to indicate suicidal thoughts.

Crenshaw revealed during a Monday appearance on KPRC2 that he talked to Davidson.

He said, “It was pretty devastating. You don’t want to see somebody in that position to the point where they’re actually putting out a cry for help on social media, now that’s not a good place to be in. I talked to him personally yesterday and I talked to him for a little about it. You know we don’t go back very far, we’re not good friends but I think he appreciated hearing from me.”

Crenshaw added, “What I told him is this, everybody has a purpose in this world. God put you here for a reason.”

Crenshaw’s actions show a deeper commitment to his fellow Americans than any political partisanship. Crenshaw also shows that it is possible to remain deeply attached to your conservative convictions without “selling out”, all the while reaching across the isle.
