A suspect has been arrested for mailing the improvised explosives to Democrat lawmakers. Fox News reports:
A suspect was arrested in Florida on Friday morning in connection with the rash of suspicious packages sent to prominent Democrats nationwide, law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News.
A news conference was set for 2:30 p.m. ET.
Federal authorities had been focusing on Florida as the location where the majority of packages originated.
“Some of the packages went through the mail,” Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told Fox News. “They originated, some of them, from Florida. I am confident that this person or people will be brought to justice.”
The identity of the suspect is unknown, but three basic profiles are in the running: a right wing extremist intent on harming Democrat officials, a left wing saboteur wanting to kill Democrats who aren’t following the progressive agenda enough (or is trying to attract sympathy for Democrats), or an apolitical nutjob in the style of the Unabomber.
