On Tuesday, Starbucks announced that the company is going to close over 8,000 stores across the United States next month “to conduct racial-bias education geared toward preventing discrimination in our stores.”
The announcement from Starbucks comes after a video went viral last Thursday that showed two black males getting arrested in a store in Philadelphia. In response, social justice warriors launched a boycott of Starbucks and the company has now decided to close thousands of store locations next month to conduct “racial-bias education.”
The closing of more than 8,000 stores across the U.S. on May 29 will provide training to approximately 175,000 Starbucks’ employees.

It is not unusual for a business to deny people the use of the businesses restrooms if one is not a paying customer. Mainly it is done to keep bums and street people from hanging around. In the story here the guys supposedly came in to use the restrooms and then allegedly said they were waiting for another person or two. That may all have been perfectly true. But a few things don’t jibe. If they were waiting for someone why not buy the product and use the restroom as you wait for the product you ordered? That is what I and probably most people would do. Then what else went on that caused the store employee to call the police? The news stories don’t really go into it. Maybe the call to the police will be released or the officers themselves will tell that part of the story. We all know the media will love to play the “racist card” but lets wait until all the information is released. The Starbucks CEO might just have, I hate to say this “jumped the gun”. But he did exactly what Howard Schultz would have done.
