A former press secretary to Florida Governor Rick Scott has died in a boat crash.
Jereima ‘Jeri’ Bustamante, 33, died of blunt force trauma suffered in the crash at around 6.15pm in the waters off Islamorada in the Florida Keys, state officials told the Florida Key News.
Bustamante was a passenger in an 18-foot Maverick skiff that impacted mangrove branches while traveling in a cut-through area on the bay side of Whale Harbor Channel, said Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer Bobby Dube.
Also injured in the crash were the boat’s operator, 39-year-old Eddy Briel, and passengers Geydis Briel, 32, and Anthony Bustamante, 37.
