On Sunday evening, NBC sent out a tweet that verified for everyone watching just what the network’s political biases are. Here’s the tweet:
The tweet, in context, followed Golden Globes host Seth Meyers joking about Oprah Winfrey receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. “What a tremendous honor for Cecil B. DeMille,” Meyers joked. “And Oprah, in 2011, I told some jokes about our current president at the White House Correspondents Dinner, jokes about how he was unqualified to be president, and some have said that night convinced him to run. So if that’s true, I just wanted to say, Oprah, you will never be president! You do not have what it takes! And Hanks, where’s Hanks, you’ll never be vice president! You are too mean and unrelatable. Now we just wait and see.”
Some said that NBC was attempting to play off of Meyers’ joke. But that doesn’t really matter, since it wasn’t a quote from Meyers — it was NBC signaling its support for Oprah as future president.
Question: Did NBC ever make the same joke about Trump in 2011?
