U.S. Senator Ted Cruz suggested that the U.S. military should be used against Mexican transnational criminal groups (cartels). The statements were made during a one-on-one interview with the senator at the end of May at the Bayer Museum of Agriculture in Lubbock, Texas. The senator made clear that he was not suggesting unilateral U.S. military action in Mexico, but rather a cooperative effort, as seen in Colombia.
The portion of the interview pertaining to Mexican cartels follows.

In the past decade, we have seen the control and reign of terror of the cartels wreak enormous damage to the nation of Mexico. Where ordinary citizens are terrified for their lives. Where crime and kidnapping becomes almost routine and the corruption that goes hand and hand with billions of dollars of illegal narcotic trafficking resources combined with vicious violent transnational criminal cartels has done enormous damage to Mexico and enormous damage to America.
What can we do about it? One of the things I think we should explore very seriously is something along the lines of what we did in Colombia: Plan Colombia. Where President George W. Bush worked with President Uribe to target the cartels and take them out. It was treated less as a law enforcement matter than as a military matter. Where our military went into Colombia and helped destroy the cartels.

Unfortunately since Mexico has no control over the cartels, we do have to use force. They open fire on our border patrol and no declaration of war? What wimps we had in government, hope President Trump takes a harsher stand. Guess we’re too busy murdering israel’s enemies in the Middle East to worry about our own borders.
It becomes a Different Kind of Wall if the U.S. decides to use military forces to defend our southern border. It will take Special Forces to meet, outperform and/or eliminate the cartels’ major forces. There is far too much corruption in the Mexican law enforcement community just to stay alive.
Right Is Might! We Can help create a new vision for Mexico if they even want it at this point. The Cartels may simply be Too Far In Command, and This is the way it is to be. It Is a decidedly important point that the entire country lives in fear of the cartels. Their payments to the government keep many citizens afloat.
As Donald has already discovered, it is not easy to Drain the Swamp. It will take intestinal fortitude from the Trump Team to support him and get reelected. Far too many the media reports as deserters, unwilling to step up and support the current administration’s initiatives when their own reelection is up for grabs.
Trump was elected by not a lot of reporters like myself. A Lot of True Americans showed up to vote. God Bless the middle USA. They carried the day.
Thanks for your words. This country is fighting a kind of civil war right now. And what is in stake is just extremely important. The future of this nation as united and as the elite of the world. Donald Trump is the last hope for this country don’t fall apart in the future…. I am from a third world country I know perfectly and 100 % sure what I am talking about is real God bless America sorry for my English….
With what they did to that Border patrolman —- I want them dead and get that blased wall up NOW.!!!!!!!!!
